Nominating a Beneficiary

EISS Super members

Binding beneficiary

You can nominate a binding beneficiary to receive your super benefit in the event that you pass away. It is important that EISS Super knows who you want your super benefit (including any insurance benefit) paid to in the event of your death by completing a Binding Nomination form. Please check your current nominations to make sure they reflect your wishes. You can find out more by reading your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

You can nominate a binding beneficiary who must be a dependant, your legal personal representative or a combination.

EISS Pension members

Reversionary beneficiary

A reversionary beneficiary will continue to receive pension payments when you pass away, or may opt to take your death benefit as a lump sum. You can only nominate a reversionary beneficiary when you commence your pension, but you can cancel your nomination at any time. You cannot nominate a binding beneficiary, through a binding death nomination if you have already nominated a reversionary beneficiary on your EISS Pension account. For further information please refer to the EISS Pension Binding Nomination Factsheet

Binding Nomination

A Binding Nomination requires EISS Super to pay the balance of your pension account when you pass away to the beneficiary or beneficiaries you nominate. You cannot make a binding nomination if you have already nominated a reversionary beneficiary on your EISS Pension account. For further information please refer to the EISS Pension Binding Nomination Factsheet.

If you would like EISS Super to be bound by your nomination, please complete a Binding Nomination form. Superannuation law currently does not allow binding nominations forms to be completed online.

Your nomination will only apply to the account you are currently viewing. If you have multiple accounts with us, you will need to give us a separate nomination for each account.

I agree to provide my email address and:

  • I acknowledge that it will be used to send me confirmation of this transaction once my request has been processed. I also agree that the Trustee may use these details in the future to send me information concerning my super electronically (unless I have otherwise told the Trustee).
  • I understand I can change my preference for receiving confirmation at any time by updating my personal details information via the update personal details page in the secure site, or by calling us on 1300 369 901
  • If my email bounces, I acknowledge that I will be issued with a paper-based confirmation letter and that the email address recorded for my account will be removed. If this occurs, I will be prompted to provide an updated email the next time I log in to my account and access the personal details page.

For information about who you can nominate as a beneficiary you can refer to the Fact Sheet.

Retirement Scheme members

Please note if you have a reversionary spouse entitlement form a predecessor scheme membership, then the reversionary pension can only be paid to your spouse and any binding nomination you make will not apply to this reversionary pension entitlement. In all other cases, where a death benefit is payable the Trustee will follow your binding nomination.

Defined Benefit Scheme members

Binding beneficiary

You can only make a binding death benefit nomination for your Defined Benefit Scheme Other Contributions account. A binding nomination provides you with certainty that in the event of your death that benefit will be paid to your beneficiaries as you determine. The remainder of your Defined Benefit Scheme benefit payable on death will depend on your circumstances at the time of death, see the PDS for more information.
