Investments

This important information relates to many members’ super accounts; their circumstances may be different from yours. If you are in doubt about whether or not a particular provision applies to you or if you simply would like further information, please call us on 1300 133 177.

It is important for you to consider your own personal financial circumstances, objectives and needs (your needs). We provide general information only and it may not be right for you. Before making a change to your investment strategy you should read the details of each investment option involved carefully - this can be done by simply clicking on the name of the investment option. Over time, unit prices for different investment options rise and fall at different rates resulting in the proportion of your current balance in each option changing.

You are generally able to exercise investment choice however, for some members their specific plan rules prohibit investment choice. If you are in doubt, please call us on 1300 133 177.

It is important to consider the following before you request a change:

  • time to process your request
  • fees and charges;
  • confirmation of your request
  • restrictions to Defined Benefit Members (if applicable);
  • NGS Self-Managed direct investment option (if applicable)

Time to process your request

If we receive a valid instruction from you before 4pm (AEST/AEDT) on a business day, it is processed by applying the next declared unit price (the unit price that is declared the following  business day).

If we receive a valid instruction from you after 4pm (AEST/AEDT) on a business day, it will not be processed by applying the next declared unit price, but will be processed by applying the unit price declared for the next business day (the unit price that is declared two business day from the request). If you submit multiple investment switch transactions, only the most recent switch request (prior to the 4pm cut-off) will be processed. 

Fees and charges

There is no charge to make an investment switch (to change how your account balance is invested) or to change your nominated investment options for future contributions (for Accumulation accounts) or regular pension payments (for Transition to Retirement accounts and Income accounts).

About your investment strategies

In the Accumulation account, you have the option of having one investment strategy for your account balance and a different investment strategy for your future contributions (including transfers in from other super funds). This means you can keep your existing account balance in your current investment option(s) and direct any future contributions into an entirely different investment option(s).

In the Transition to Retirement account and Income account, you have the option of having one investment strategy for your account balance and you can select from which of these options you will receive your pension drawdown. 

Confirmation of your request

Your transaction will only be processed if you have received a Receipt Number. If you tried to do an investment switch but you haven't received a Receipt Number (and wish to make an investment switch), please call us on 1300 133 177.

Your investment switch will become effective once it has been processed by us. You will receive a Confirmation Advice of your investment strategy change, check your preferences.

Your investment change request will only be applied to the account you are currently logged into. If you have multiple accounts with us, you will need to submit a separate request for each account. You can access your other accounts (if applicable) from the navigation.

Note, your change will not be visible on this site until it is processed by us.

You agree that where we have your email address:

  • We may use email to send you confirmation of this transaction once your request has been processed and we may use email in future to send you information concerning your super (unless you have instructed us otherwise)
  • You understand that you can change your preference for receiving confirmations at any time by updating your personal details information via this website, or by calling us, and
  • You acknowledge that if your email bounces, you will be issued with a paper-based confirmation letter and that the email address recorded for your account will be removed. If this occurs, you will be prompted to provide an updated email the next time you log in to your account.

Restrictions to Defined Benefit Members (if applicable)

If you are a Defined Benefit (DB) member, you must have an additional accumulation account (which allows you to choose your investments) to make investment switches. Your changes will only apply to this account not your DB account.

NGS Self-Managed direct investment option (if applicable)

If selecting the NGS Self-Managed option, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the NGS Self-Managed Guide and the Direct Investment Terms and Conditions.

Switches into NGS Self-Managed received by 4.00pm (AEST/AEDT) on a business day will appear in your Self-Managed cash account two business days later. You will then need to purchase investments within your NGS Self-Managed account. Go to the Investments page and click "Go" next to your holding in the NGS Self-Managed option.

Privacy Policies

By submitting a request to change your investment strategy, you understand and consent to your information being collected, disclosed and used in the manner set out in our Privacy Policies.
