TFN Collection Statement
Providing your Tax File number:
By submitting this information, I understand and consent to my information being collected, disclosed and used in the manner set out in our Privacy Policy.
Providing your Tax File Number (TFN)
In line with legislation including the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993, the Trustee needs to ask for your TFN. The Trustee will only use your TFN for lawful purposes and also needs to comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1998.
By providing your TFN, you're allowing the Trustee to use it to:
- find or identify your super when there's no other way
- work out any tax payable
- pass your TFN to the tax office when you receive your super payout or have unclaimed super money after reaching pension age
- pass your TFN to any other super fund or account to which your super is transferred in the future unless you request in writing that this not be done
- report details of contributions to the tax office for working out whether any tax is applicable if contributions for you exceed certain limits, and
- where required by law, pass your TFN to other Government agencies.
Choosing not to provide your TFN is not an offence. However, if you don't provide your TFN, now or later:
- you may pay more tax on contributions made by your employer and certain other contributions from 1 July 2007. In some circumstances you may be able to claim this back, however time limits and other rules may apply
- the Trustee will only be able to accept contributions made for you by your employer. No personal contributions can be accepted
- you may pay more tax on your super than you would otherwise (although you can claim this back when you lodge your tax return) and;
- it may be more difficult to find your super in the future if you change your address without notifying the Trustee, or if you rollover any other super accounts you have
The use of your TFN, and what happens if you don't provide it to the Trustee, may be different in the future if there are changes to legislation.
If you're not sure what your Tax File Number is, you can contact the ATO on 13 28 61 or check your last PAYG (Group) certificate that your employer gave to you.
Consent to use your TFN to find any additional super accounts you may have
By providing us with consent to use your TFN, you are allowing us to search the Australian Tax Office (ATO) for any additional super accounts you may have and help you to consolidate any accounts found.
By providing us with consent to use your TFN, you authorise the trustee to use your TFN to search the ATO SuperMatch database and recover any super monies held by the ATO in your name and to automatically transfer those monies to your super account
ATO held monies include the superannuation guarantee (SG), superannuation holding accounts (SHA) special account, superannuation co-contributions and unclaimed superannuation monies.
We'll run this check from time to time and notify you to provide the results and information on how to consolidate your accounts.
Once you have provided your consent above, it will remain effective until such time as you advise us to remove it.
To remove consent please contact us.
