Understanding Mercer Smart Path
Most Mercer Super members are invested in Mercer SmartPath, our default investment option.
Mercer SmartPath® is an award-winning investment option that uses smart algorithms to adjust investment risk automatically as you get older. It’s designed so you can set and forget your investment strategy to deliver a sustainable income throughout your retirement.
When you’re younger, Mercer SmartPath invests in a higher allocation of growth assets (approximately 90% growth and 10% defensive). As you get older, your investment exposure to growth assets gradually reduces to ensure the investment returns are less volatile.
This gradual adjustment continues until the allocation reaches approximately 60% growth and 40% defensive at ages 66 and over.

Switching your investment options
If you’re considering an investment switch, we recommend you seek financial advice before taking action.
There are separate sections online to update either your current investment or your future contributions. You must update these separately, by clicking the edit button for each investment and following the prompts. For more information on investment options, visit our website.
It takes up to 2 business days for your investment switch to be processed
So the value of your investment option (the unit price) may change between the time you switch online and when the switch takes effect. Your change will appear online once it’s processed, it doesn’t appear immediately. Please avoid submitting multiple requests, as this will slow down the process.
We regularly review our products and services to ensure they align with current market conditions and to provide the best possible outcomes for our members. As part of the review process, we may make changes to the investment menus (such as closing options or opening new options) as well as changing the objectives, description, asset allocation, standard risk measure or minimum suggested timeframe for each of our investment options.
Generally, you can view the current investment options available to you and their details by selecting the option on the Investments page in Member Online or more details can be found in your Plan’s Product Disclosure Statement documents at mercersuper.com.au/pds.
Direct Investment
Welcome to your Member Directed Investment service. When you first log in to the platform, you’ll need to set up a ‘Transact Password’. This is required to make transactions.
Invest in a range of ASX-listed companies, exchange traded funds and term deposits and have more control over your investment portfolio. Direct Investments are not available for all accounts, check your Product Disclosure Statement at mercersuper.com/documents to see if they are available to you. Existing and prospective customers can learn more on the Direct Investment page.
When making an initial investment into Mercer Direct, members need to meet certain eligibility criteria. There are also investment limits that apply within Mercer Direct. Please refer to the Mercer Direct Member Guide for more information regarding the eligibility criteria and investment limits.
If you would like to transfer into Direct Investment, please read the Terms and Conditions, then click on the Edit button below next to Current Investments and choose the amount you want to switch from your current investment option(s) to Mercer Direct.
