There are three methods by which you can advise NGS Super about who would receive your super and any insurance in the event of your death. It is important you review and update when necessary both who you have named, and the method you have selected.
If you have nominated a non-binding beneficiary, we will use your nomination as a guide but we have discretion when it comes to paying your benefit.
If you have nominated a binding beneficiary (lapsing), we must pay your benefit to your nominated person/s. However you must confirm who that is every three (3) years for it to remain in place. If you do not confirm, it will revert to a Non-binding Nominated Beneficiary.
If you have nominated a binding beneficiary (non-lapsing), we must pay your benefit to your nominated person/s regardless of how long ago you made the nomination or who it is, assuming it is valid.
Please contact the NGS Super Helpline on 1300 133 177 to confirm whether your beneficiary nomination is non-binding or whether it is binding (either lapsing or non-lapsing).
You can update your Non-binding nominated beneficiary details via the ‘Update your beneficiaries’ button below.
To update your Binding Nominated Beneficiary, please complete the Death Benefit Nomination Form.
After the family home, super is probably the largest investment you have built up over the years. It can easily be a substantial amount of money. If you have made a Will, it does not cover your super under Australian law.
When you joined NGS Super you may have nominated a non-binding beneficiary. It is important to review this regularly and update it if your circumstances change. If your nomination is not a binding nomination, we will use it as a guide but we have discretion when it comes to paying your benefit. If no date is shown in the table below, you have a non-binding nomination.
However, if you have a valid binding nomination at the time of death, we must pay your benefit according to your nomination. To make a binding nomination, you will need to complete the Making a Binding nomination form. If a date is shown in the table below, you have a binding nomination and this is when the current nomination expires.
Note: If you have a binding beneficiary nomination, the expiry date of that nomination will be shown in the table above.
